Wine, shoes and boys. In no particular order.

Tidying or lack of it
I need to tidy my bedroom. Again. Actually what I really need to do is unpack from Cambridge last weekend. It's got to the stage where I can't sit on any of the chairs in my room because they're covered with rubbish and I am perched on the side of the bed, in real danger of falling off because my clean washing is residing on the rest of it, waiting to be put away. Alternatively, I could just use the loo as an alternative chair and not bother tidying up in here.

It makes quite a nice line across the globe doesn't it...

Where on earth?
Ah. My mother has absolutely no idea where all my exam/degree certificates are. It begs the question, what is the point of her?

Apparently they might be in a box that is somewhere in storage. That's a fun weekend for me then.

Back from the Cam...
I am so tired that I can hardly type which raises the question of why I am bothering to write this at all, especially as I will try to do a proper update tomorrow. I ended up coming back from Cambridge a day earlier because it was much easier this way round. It's also nice because I came away from it feeling like I'd had a lovely time and wanted to see more of everyone rather than feeling over-socialised. Will also try and put up some photos too at some point. And now, I really need sleep. Today hasn't been that bad for the morning after the night before but the problem with balls is that you end up getting completely out of synch time-wise. Anyway, bed. Yes.

List for packingCollapse )

The beginning of the end...
So far today I have:

Got out of bed
Done a property search
Had a shower and washed my hair

I still have to:

Go to the post office
Buy a film for my camera
Paint nails
Decide on accesories for tonight
Pack (actually first, I need to find a bag to take)
Speak to Lloyd about trains

Will probably be updated as I think of more things I need to do...

BTW, going back and retrospectively f-locking some posts because I let it slip to someone that I had an LJ and am worried they will read stuff they shouldn't! Most of the random crap will still be public but the juicy bits will be friends only :D

I woke up at 4am this morning. That is definitely A BAD THING. I'm so tired that I'm actually wearing my glasses and I'm not driving (at least I don't think I am...)

Robinson Prep. (cont)
Well I have tried the grease dress on and it fits okay although it makes my hips look ginormous. This does have the advantage of making my waist look small. The only place it doesn't really fit, naturally, is the top (I sadly take after my father in the boob department) but I hope a padded bra will fix that. Now I just have to decide what jellery to wear. Should I co-ordinate with pink or go for lots of silver? And it has a difficult neckline to find a necklace many decisions.

Updated update: I have just been back to look at the photos from the Grease bop, my word it was an ugly night on my part. I never realised there were actual bones in my neck that were visible. Why on earth did all the weight go from there and not, for example, my thighs?! I just look absolutely atrocious. I am so embarrassed. I probably had some valid excuses but still.

Robinson Prep.
In 4 days time I will be getting ready for Robinson May Ball :D Huzzah! We've paid extra for a limo to come and pick us up and take us to the front of the queue which will definitely be well worth the money. And then on saturday it's the CUMTS night at the Corn Ex which should be highly enjoyable, not least because I imagine we'll be able to spend Saturday lazing by the cam, drinking pimms. Or gate crashing garden parties :D And I mustn't forget that I have very early joining drinks for the company next week which is alternately exciting and nerve-wracking. But that I can think about when I come back from Cambridge.

Things to do:

- Buy my brother a birthday card (must do tomorrow)
- Buy at least one new film for my camera
- Decide what to wear for Robinson
- Ditto the rest of the weekend
- Find a bag for the ball
- Buy Jacky and Esh a good luck card
- Email Katya

I *think* the number one choice for Friday is my black grease dress with pink underskirt but the last time I wore that I was freakishly thin and I don't know how it fits now that I'm back to a slightly more normal weight. I could also wear my birthday dress but that is a tad on the short side and I would need to wear tights which would entail proper shoes which would just be a pain. I've worn the black and white dress too much and my other ball dress, I've worn for the last two years. So I really need the grease dress to fit. Oh dear, I've just looked at Katya's pictures from when I last wore it and I manage to look distressingly skinny and distressingly fat at the same time which is worrying. Sigh...

I watched House tonight for the first time in ages...I'd forgotten how good it was. And Omar Epps was just amazing. Admittedly I was a little confused at the ending until I lay down and lifted up my own arms but it was just heart breaking (yes, I was in tears for about the last 20 minutes...)

I want new skin...argh! I don't think I can really have another bath/shower today. Grrr.

Stinky non-coconuts
Why does a coconut oil compound not smell of coconuts? That would be nice. Instead it smells like a building site. This is probably because it contains coal tar too as well as sulphur which doesn't help matters. But still, it's stinky *pouts*

Le weekend
Sorry I have been rather scarce recently (and not picking up my phone...) but I have been rather busy with work and friends and the like.

House-hunting on friday was good fun; we saw a not very nice place off the Edgware Road, a lovely little mews house and a fantastic flat in Maida Vale. The flat was almost perfect - 3 huge double bedrooms (although the single was quite small), 2 bathrooms, a fabulous kitchen, huge living room/dining room with balcony. As it was a mansion flat, it had huge windows and lots of space. It was recently refurbished in a nice modern, neautral way and was in budget. Sadly, however, it is available now and will probably be snapped up and we can't afford to start renting yet. We just have to hope that some similar properties are available in a month or two and that prices haven't gone up too much. We also got really excited when we were on the Finchley Road and found a shopping centre that had both a Weatherspoons and an Old Orleans in. There is literally nothing more that we need out of life.

The evening was lovely because Emma and Katya came down from Cambridge and Pete and Joe came along too. Everyone seemed to get on very well (even if the boys proved that northerners really can't hold their drink as well as us southerners) and we had a really fab evening. Was so lovely to see Katya and was just like old times, not least in terms of the number of cocktails we drank :D For some strange reason (maybe because Katya was cooking for everyone at 3am) we didn't feel too bad yesterday morning and the pictures don't reveal anything too awful apart from some very suggestive poses.

Yesterday and most of today, P and I just lazed about in the sun, reading papers and books etc. It was very odd to have someone (other than brother) here for such a long period of time and the first thing I did when we went was to spend an hour cleaning the flat, more to reclaim it as my own than because it was dirty/messy. Now I have a nice afternoon watching the tennis planned :D

PS: people who are gathering on weds, I will PM directions once I have written them in a way that makes sense!

Oh my god! Yay!! My best friend is in the country for the whole of the next month! Woo! She's gonna be the death of us I swear. But still, this is the best news in months. I'm so, so, so excited and happy :D

Another crazy friday night...
Hmmm...yesterday's headache on the right side of my head seems to have become today's headache on the left side. This is a strange bug that is affecting my family which seems to manifest itself in a general feeling of queasiness but nothing else. I have yet to decide who to blame but I think it will be my mother. I guess the advantage that my brother has by not actually spending any time with the rest of us is that he manages to avoid things like this.

I was going to write a whole thing about Kat's email but I don't really know how I feel about it. Obviously it is her life and she's entitled to do what she wants with it. I just wish that what she wanted wasn't a) so dangerous and b) so far away. Or failing that, that she would just keep in better contact! It's not just that I miss her but that her life seems to be going in such a different direction to the rest of us and she's missing out on so much with us and vice versa. I know that doesn't really matter in terms of friendship or anything but I'm sure there are things that we would all like her to share with us *le grand sigh*

I'm sure that was almost completely incomprehensible! I'm going to go and chop my head off or something :D

Norty Jane!
Sigh...I have written a grand total of 36 words of my drabble this afternoon and despite the large amount of time spent staring at the computer, I still can't decide what should happen next. It is a tad like an essay crisis...maybe I should coin the term 'drabble crisis'

*pokes Jane*
